Leave no stone unturned.

For centuries, travelers have used rocks, or Cairns, to mark their journey. I have a special connection to Cairns, not only because the pronunciation is the same as my name—Karen, pronounced “car-in”—but also because I spent my writing career using words to guide people to where they want to be.

The same can be said for storytelling. We live our lives gathering experiences like stones, each one unique and precious. We put them together in configurations that show the world where we’ve been. And we invite others to follow.

Everyone has a story.

“Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world.”

- Robert McAfee

The power of storytelling is undeniable. Even in dreams, we tell ourselves stories. It’s only natural to be drawn in. But hearing a story and writing one are two very different things.

On this site, you’ll find information and insights I’ve picked up during my journey as a writer and storyteller, along with a few of my published pieces. I hope you find the information helpful and that it inspires you to put your own stories out into the world.
